Full of brilliance and aurora borealis color play, chaton, marquise and baguette cut rhinestones shine in all their glory in Sherman's crescent style gold tone clip earrings, circa 1950s-1960s. One of Canada's top costume jewelry firms, Gustave Sherman began his business in Montreal in 1947. Production ceased in the early '80s. Although clear and colored rhinestone pieces were made, it is the aurora borealis rhinestone one most often identifies with Sherman jewelry. Navette cuts were popular and larger chatons often featured dentelle faceting. Quality was exceptional. Shermans were marketed as "Jewels of Elegance". The slogan rings true.
The earrings presented measure approximately 1 1/4 inches x 1/2 inch with a 1/4 inch profile or thickness. Largest dentelle faceted chatons are approximately 9 millimeters. Marquise rhinestones are about 10 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is approximately 10 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones intact, retaining superb brilliance and aurora borealis finish for outstanding color play. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. No dents or improper bends. All soldering secure. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Each original earring clip is signed in block caps: "SHERMAN". The earring date circa 1950-1960s.
