Chromium, an alloyed chrome like metal worked beautifully for Art Deco's light, airy filigreed components -- a modern material updating a romantic look. The silver tone necklace presented, circa 1930s, begins with bilateral chains secured via a spring ring closure. Delicate filigree panels are linked to a marquise shaped pendant, resplendent with wide, scalloped side panels, top applied blue guilloche enamel accents and center, square cut, clear glass stone. Grace with guts. Romance within reason. Past perfect panache. Art Deco's answer to all.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 16 inches with spring ring clasp. Decorative center spans about 7 inches x 2 1/2 inches including pendant drop. Width of pendant is 1/2 inch with a 5/16 inch profile, including stone height. Square cut glass stone is approximately 9 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is about 10 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All chromium metal retains silvery finish, front and back. All enamel intact, retaining blue shade. Center, clear glass stone free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Clasp secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The necklace is not signed. Examples of this type of necklace can be seen in numerous vintage jewelry books. It dates to the 1930s.
