Invention over imitation. It was the 1950s. Momentum had been building in Hollywood and at home. The People were ready for change. No longer would fake struggle to be real. Faux would be king.
Presenting an unabashedly bold and beautiful rhinestone and art glass bib necklace and earrings set, circa 1950s. Amethyst and olivine art glass pair with aurora borealis rhinestones to create this outstanding example of society's new attitude. The silver tone necklace begins with bilateral ab rhinestone chains secured with a hook closure. The mesh backed "V" span consists of florets of olivine navettes centered with large ab rhinestones. Lining the "V" are four large faceted amethyst colored art glass ovals encircled with ab chaton rhinestones. Bridges of aurora borealis rhinestones arch above each. An additional vertically set amethyst art glass stone in full regalia punctuates at center. Matching clip earrings with complimenting amethyst and ab rhinestone tops culminate with five graduated ab rhinestone fringes terminating in olivine art glass navettes. Much more than a statement -- a story of epic proportions.
The necklace is adjustable to about 16 inches. The semi rigid "V" span is approximately 7 inches. The center piece is about 2 inches wide. "V" sides are approximately 1 1/4 inches wide. Profile or height is a generous 11/16 inch.
Earrings are about 2 1/8 inches long x 1 inch at their widest. Amethyst or purple colored stones are about 17 millimeters; navettes, about 14 millimeters. Weight of the necklace and earrings demi is approximately 104 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All ab rhinestones intact, retaining finish and brilliance. All navette and oval glass stones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Gorgeous color and shine. All ab rhinestone bridges remain arched and secure. No loose, separated or collapsed spans. Silver tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Necklace mesh backing free from pulls, kinks or improper bends. All soldering secure. Original earrings clips strong and secure. Necklace's hook has finish wear exposing it's brass tone base --- the single and only issue we see. The set is extremely clean -- no cosmetic or scent interaction. Excellent / near pristine vintage.
The 1950's vintage set is not signed. Obviously from a respected, famous maker, waiting to be named...
