Nemo, founded by Brier and Magid in 1913, enjoyed a relatively long run, closing shop in the late 1970s. The set presented, circa late '40s-early '50s, pops with a bursts of ruby red encircled in icy whites. Five linked blossoms in the necklace consist of clear chatons centered with red round brilliants. Three large clear chatons rhinestones dangle at bottom. Silver tone bilateral chains connect via spring ring closure. Matching screw back earrings follow the theme in a single complimenting blossom. Wonderful color contrast, sparkle and movement from the folks at Nemo.
The set includes the necklace, at a fixed approximate 16 inches with spring ring clasp. Decorative center spans about 3 inches x 1 1/4 inches including dangles. Screw back earrings complete, at approximately 5/8 inches across. Red chatons are about 6 millimeters; clear dangles, approximately 9 millimeters. Weight of the necklace and earrings set is about 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All "white" rhinestones uniformly clear and brilliant. There are no dark, yellow, gray, cloudy or dead stones. All red stones retain color and brilliance. No "off" stones. Pewter like silver tone finish intact with age commensurate wear. Necklace clasp and earring screws strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Each original screw is signed on head: "NEMO" , no copyright symbol. The necklace is not signed but is a definite part of the demi. The set dates from about 1945-1954.
