Rhinestones and art glass in red, amethyst, fuchsia and aurora borealis colors captivate in this oversized '50s vintage gold tone brooch. All stones, except the fuchsia and aurora borealis rhinestones are unfoiled and open backed. Stone cuts include chaton, emerald, marquise and pear. The brooch's domed surface allows light to pass into and through the art glass stones for phenomenal color and glow. Luscious reds, ethereal amethysts, funtastic fuchsias and the ever awesome, aurora borealis.
The brooch measures a generous approximate 3 1/2 inches x 2 inches at it's widest with a 1/2 inch profile. Large center pear is about 18 millimeters; emeralds, about 10 millimeters; marquises, about 15 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 34 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestone and art glass stones intact and brilliant / lustrous, retaining colors. No chips, cracks or breaks to stones. Center pear has a tiny mold mark at top -- produced during the stone's creation -- not the result of damage. Light gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Soldering secure. No collapse. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is not signed. It's design, materials, construction and overall presentation suggest a 1950's vintage.
