Known famously for it's mesh handbags, Whiting & Davis created stellar glass cameo / intaglio jewelry, as well. Presented is a wonderful '60s-'70s vintage large pendant necklace and matching earrings, depicting reverse carved glass carvings of Cupid and Venus, aka Eros and Aphrodite from Greek mythology. Frame set in gold tone, the large, inverted triangular pendant is suspended by bilateral cobra or serpentine / snake chains secured with a spring ring closure. At pendant's bottom a foxtail fringe tassel dangles. Matching clip earrings sway with smaller versions of Cupid and Venus glass intaglios sans tassels. Quintessential Whiting & Davis content and quality.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 23 inches. The pendant portion, including the fringe tassel is about 4 inches x 1 3/4 inches at it's widest x 3/16 inch thick. Earrings are approximately 2 inches x 3/4 inch at their widest. Weight of the necklace and earrings demi is about 56 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All component intact. All glass intaglios free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Wonderful subject details and "frosted", Lalique like glass images. All gold tone finishes intact, fronts and backs. No verdigris. Cobra chains and foxtail fringe free from kinks or bends. Glass frames secure. Spring ring clasp and earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The necklace retains it's original oval metal hangtag stamped with "WHITING DAVIS".
