The Fenichels opened shop in New York in the 1920s, creating limited, high quality jewelry. Hand set, Austrian stones were used and pieces were personally inspected before leaving the floor. Production halted in the 1950s. The cranberry aurora borealis dangle earrings offered, circa mid to late '50s, feature chaton, baguette and emerald cut rhinestones, set in a japanned (black enamel) finish. Ab stone colors exhibit incredible cranberry, plum and violet shades. And...please remember that monitors display color uniquely and that our assessment may differ from yours.
The clip earrings measure a generous approximate 2 1/4 inches. Chaton rhinestones are about 9 millimeters; baguettes, about 8 millimeters x 4 millimeters and emerald cuts, approximately 10 millimeters x 8 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is about 8 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All ab finish intact on all stones, dispersing amazing color and brilliance. No chips, cracks, or breaks to stones. No cloudy or dead stones. All japanned (black) finish intact, front and back. Slight finish wear to clip contact points only. Clips secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Each earring is signed on the reverse of it's emerald cut (bottom) stone: "FENICHEL". Design, materials, construction and overall presentation date these earrings from the mid to late '50s.
