Enmeshed and gilt ridden, nested with pearls of wisdom-- so goes our love affair with Miriam Haskell. All in our admiration, of course, of her splendid array of jewelry. With a stable of talented designers including Frank Hess, Robert Clark, Peter Raines, Larry Vrba and Millie Petronzio, the company succeeded at created legendary jewels beyond compare.
The stick pin and earrings demi parure offered, circa 1960s, in Russian gold tone, wraps ropes of woven mesh around glass Baroque pearls for a look that's unmistakably Haskell. The earrings feature the comfortable and secure tension control clips, first introduced in 1946. Modified in 1965, as exhibited in this version, the screw back clips provide welcome relief to weary ears worldwide. The stick / lapel pin mimics the earrings' design, replacing the hardware with a pointed shaft and guard, suitable as a decorative, as well as, functional accessory.
The earrings measures approximately 1 inch across with a 1/2 inch profile. The stickpin top has similar dimensions with the addition of an approximate 2 1/4 inch pin shaft. Imitation pearls in all pieces are about 9 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weight of the set is approximately 20 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Russian gold tone gilt intact, fronts and backs, with age appropriate patina. All wiring, riveting, soldering intact and secure, including back filigree cover plates. Earrings screws / clips strong and secure. Lapel pin shaft straight and sharp with secure interior rubber wrapped point guard. Glass Baroque simulated pearls retain all nacre and luster with no chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Even creamy color with no stains or wear through. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage. Please note that all monitors register photos uniquely. Each earring is signed on it's clip bar in block caps: "HASKELL". Connection point circle is also signed in block caps: "MIRIAM HASKELL". Clip pad is stamped with "PAT. NO. 3,175,495", corresponding to the year 1965. Although the stick pin is not signed, it is a definite mate to the demi.
