Giant silvery pewter tone chain links connect a figure 8 shaped pendant nestling an oval black glass cabochon in Les Bernard's '70s-'80s vintage necklace. As fresh and fashionable as when created, the links have a gently worked texture and wonderful, buffed sheen, lending a hand forged appearance. The huge, jet black glass simulated onyx cab with it's high polished luster is in perfect proportion with it's counterparts. Les Bernard, in business from about 1963 to 1996, excelled in transforming accessories into showpieces. Much of the company's work continues to adorn fashion's trend setters.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 18 inches with fold over clasp. Width of chain links is between 1 inch - 1 1/4 inches. The pendant with bail is approximately 3 inches x 2 1/2 inches with a 5/8 inch profile or thickness. Simulated onyx cab is about 39 millimeters x 29 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is a substantial approximate 158 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All chain links retain shape with no dents or bends. Buttery silver / pewter tone finish intact, front and back. Black glass cab free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks with high buffed luster. Note: The whitish area on the cab you may see in some of the photographs is reflection from the camera shot. In real life, the cab it totally black with no issues. Fold over clasp strong and secure. Extremely clean with no cosmetic or scent traces. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of the pendant is signed within an oval cartouche: "LES BERNARD INC." It dates to circa 1970s-80s.
