Subtly swirled red glass beads with black tipped bottoms, alternating with green celluloid leaves, are suspended from a brass link chain in this '30s vintage whimsical interpretation of "edible" adornments. Each of the red blown or molded glass beads is slightly different in size with unique striations / marbling. Fantastic opaque tomato red colored beads and translucent green leaves pair deliciously in this tribute to our taste buds.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 15 1/2 inches with brass locking tab style closure. Decorative dangles span about 9 3/4 inches x 1 inch at widest. Largest red glass beads are approximately 16 millimeters x 11 millimeters -- some a bit slimmer than others. Weight of the necklace is about 34 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All red glass beads free from chips nicks, cracks, or breaks. Black tips remain. Amazingly, all delicate celluloid leaves free from chips, cracks or breaks. Brass chain links and embedded hooks in beads and jump rings in leaves do show some patina / oxidation from age. They has been left in original condition. No polishing or abrasive cleaning has been done. Links and dangle connections appear secure. Closure works as intended. No damage / no repairs.
The necklace is not signed. Design, materials, construction, overall presentation and references indicate a 1930s vintage.
