Robert Levey, formerly a designer with Miriam Haskell, created Fashioncraft Jewelry Company with two other businessmen in New York City in 1942. "Robert" and "Original by Robert" are two of the most recognized marks used on the jewelry. The company's name was changed to Robert Originals Inc. in 1960.
The earrings pictured, circa 1950s-1960s feature twisted iridescent orange and avocado strands wound around each other and wired to gold tone double filigree backs, Haskellesque style. Thick layers of beads lend fantastic dimension to the crescent shaped clip earrings.
The earrings measure about 1 1/2 inches x 5/8 inch with a 1/2 inch profile or thickness. Weight of the earrings pair if approximately 20 grams.
