A passion for purple with a lei like look. Miriam Haskell pulls out all the stops in her vintage floral and bead necklace featuring softly faceted mauve colored glass round beads interspersed with trios of stacked lavender and purple blossoms. Wired, amethyst colored floral wreath rondelles accent throughout. Tiny, faceted gold tone beads space. Extension tail consists of the oft used five beads culminating with complementing blossom charm. Hook is embellished with an eight petal blossom wired with the tiny faceted gold tone beads and center glass bead. It's all Haskell. Compilation, colors, coordination. Complete and correct in every way.
The necklace is adjustable to about 16 inches with hook style closure and beaded / charmed extension chain. Width is approximately 1/2 inch. Large glass beads are about 10 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is approximately 42 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Glass beads free from chips, nicks, cracks, flea bites, or breaks. High quality molded plastic flower blossoms retain color and shape with no distortion or discoloration. Gold tone finishes intact with age appropriate patina. No verdigris. Strand appears secure. All wiring intact and secure. All components complete and correct. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent+ vintage.
The necklace retains it's original oval metal hang tag with the "two sided" signature: "MIRIAM HASKELL". The hook is also signed: "MIRIAM HASKELL". Design, style, color, materials, construction, and overall presentation, in conjunction with signature usage and available references, suggest this necklace dates from the mid 1950s to late 1960s.
