D & E's mastery of vintage costume jewelry is no more evident than in it's spectacular rhinestone creations, particularly from the '50s and '60s. There's a certain look and feel to it's pieces that one becomes aware of with "on the job training". Such is the case with it's glorious gray art glass and aurora borealis rhinestone flower blossom brooch. Brimming with layers of rake set, unfoiled and open backed marquises (both traditional and oversized fancy cuts) interspersed with eye popping aurora borealis chaton rhinestones and a single center gray round brilliant, this floral spray is all DeLizza & Elster. Check out the reverse structure, it's pin mechanism and figure 8 solder puddling. You'll also notice that many of D & E's floral pin's have a similar stem structure, shape and depth accented with cup set rhinestones. Our brooch offers these signature features and more of this company's work.
The brooch measures about 2 3/8 inches x 1 3/4 inch with a 3/8 inch profile. Largest art glass marquises are approximately 16 millimeters x 7 millimeters. Largest center chaton is about 10 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 20 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All stones free from chips, nicks, flea bites, cracks or breaks. All rhinestones retain color / ab finish and brilliance. All silver tone finish intact, front and back. Pin back straight, strong and secure. Very clean. No damage / no repairs.
Although not signed, it is the work of DeLizza & Elster.
