Art Nouveau at it's finest. Early 1900's gilt brass sash pin is filled with flowing architectural scroll work incorporating two celestial god like figures flanking a magnificent oval, bezel set faux amethyst. The unfoiled and open back set stone, a favorite of the period, sits high above the dimensional framework, it's regal purple color complimenting the gilt brass perfectly.
The brooch measures approximately 2 3/4 inches x 2 1/4 inches with a 3/4 inch profile. Faux amethyst is about 20 millimeters x 12 millimeters. Weight of the sash pin is approximately 34 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components appear original and are intact. Absolutely gorgeous patina, commensurate with age. No polishing or abrasive cleaning has been done. Stone free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Reverse retains original pin shaft and simple c clasp. All soldering secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs.
As expected, the pin is not signed. It's design, subject matter, materials, construction and overall presentation date it to the early 1900s. A prime example of the Art Nouveau style.
