Authentic 1920s - 1930s Art Deco necklace. Most likely Czechoslovakian. Glass molding and faceting are superb in a rich butterscotch topaz color. Lets begin at the top with the spring ring closure from which graduated topaz colored faceted glass beads are wired. Near the bottom are three horizontally placed molded glass barrel beads with the largest in center. These beads are absolutely beautifully "carved" with deeply incised faceted cuts extending entire length of beads with faceted end cuts as well. Around the center of each of these beads is a marvelous pierced brasstone band. From each of these beads a dangle is suspended with round faceted beads culminating in a vertical barrel bead, the two on each end, sans the banding. The longest center dangle includes the brasstone banding on the barrel bead. The necklace is the epitome of Deco design. Crafted with excellent glass bead work accented with period brasstone findings.
The necklace measures an approximate wearable inches long. The longest center dangles an additional 2 3/4 inches for a total of 20 3/4 inches. The largest barrel bead is about 5/8 inch x 7/16 inch. Color is a gorgeous butterscotch topaz. Brasstone findings have developed a rich patina.
Condition of the necklace is excellent vintage. The center glass dangle barrel bead has a tiny flea bite chip or two on the edge facets. It is difficult to capture in a photo and not apparent when worn. Given the age and authenticity of this necklace, a very minor flaw may be forgiven. Please consider if buying. All wiring appears secure. Clasp secure. I estimate the necklace to be circa 1920s to no later than the mid 1930s. Given it's age, it has survived remarkably well.
When you're considering Deco era jewelry do your homework. Many so called Deco pieces are simply not from the era. The necklace I'm offering is genuine 1920s-1930s vintage. Beautifully colored, cut and composed. A true Deco delight.
