Our 1950s vintage Castlecliff clamper bracelet embodies the fast forward energy of the era. Finely ribbed light gold tone half tubes surround the wrist with a scrolled flange, flaring out at connection point. Sleek and streamlined with powerful grace, the clamper is vintage contemporary at it's best. Castlecliff's roster of talented staff included Lawrence Vrba, who also worked with Haskell and de Lillo. In the late '70s Castlecliff became part of Carnegie Industries and later part of Lucien Piccard. As with many other costume jewelry firms, it's golden years were from the 1940s-1960s.
The back hinged clamper bracelet has an inside circumference of about 6 1/2 inches. It measures approximately 2 1/8 inches across. Width varies from about 1/2 inch, graduating to 1 inch at it's very widest point. Thickness or profile varies from about 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch. The bracelet weighs it at approximately 36 grams.
Condition is very good vintage. All components intact. Hinge is strong and secure with tight snap shut closure. Alignment correct. No dents or improper bends. Some uniform gold tone wear, commensurate with age. Clean. No damage / no repairs.
Inside of bracelet is signed within a rectangular cartouche: "CASTLECLIFF".
Make it a mid century memory. Compliments of Castlecliff. Cache in at Cody's.
