Pierre Cardin. Known for his Space Age / Modernist designs, Cardin blazed his own trail after departing from the House of Dior. His jewelry was often large and bold with sleek, sweeping lines juxtaposed with curved, chunky shapes. The '60s-'70s vintage earrings offered, in gold tone, feature fluted horseshoe frames (open ends worn at bottom of ear) topped with an oval ring, inset with a flat topped white cabochon. As contemporary now as when created, Cardin's early work testifies to his fast forward inspiration and insight.
The clip earrings measure about 1 1/4 inches x 1 1/8 inches with a 5/16 inch profile or rise. The white cab is approximately 17 millimeters x 12 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is about 24 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All gold tone finish intact, fronts and backs with superb luster / sheen. Cabs clean and uniformly white with no mars or stains. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs.
Each earring reverse is signed within rectangular cartouches: "PIERRE" on one side and "CARDIN" on the opposite.
