Marcel Boucher's work from the '60s often incorporates mid century modern elements that were a marked departure from the classic, romantic designs of his earlier creations influenced by the fine jewelry of Cartier. In the example offered, large swirls of interlaced satin finished ribbons are studded with bold beading in his golden brooch and earrings set, circa 1963-64. Times were changing and Boucher was primed for a fast forward decade.
The brooch measures about 2 1/2 inches across with a generous 1/2 inch profile. Matching clip earrings are approximately 1 inch across with a 3/8 inch profile. Weight of the demi is about 44 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All gold tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Pin back straight, strong and secure. Earrings clips secure. All soldering neat and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed "BOUCHER" with copyright symbol preceding. The inventory / design number: "8982P" is also included. (The "P" indicated pin.) One earring reverse is signed: "BOUCHER" with copyright symbol preceding. The mate is stamped with the design / inventory number "8982E". (The "E" for earring.)
