Classic diamante earrings from the golden age of rhinestones, circa 1950s, are the work of Delizza & Elster . The ear clips have subtle characteristics indicative of D & E's work. Notice how the four prong chatons are set. The prongs are not evenly spaced apart. Pairs are grouped closely together on each "side" or "end" of the stone. This method of setting is not seen with other makers. Also you may notice, particularly in DeLizza & Elster earrings and pins that there is often a "bar" or channel of cup set rhinestones bisecting the piece. This may be present in other manufacturers' jewelry but the way the channel is cast or molded appears exclusive to D & E. The earrings also feature prominent figure 8 solder puddling on reverse -- a common trait of the company. These nuances, along with the design, stones, and overall construction strongly suggest DeLizza & Elster manufacture.
The silver tone clip earrings measure 1 3/4 inches x 3/4 inch. Marquises are approximately 12 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Largest chatons are about 5 millimeters. Weight of the earring pair is approximately 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. There are no dark, yellow, cloudy or dead stones. No chips, cracks or breaks to stones. All silver tone finish intact, front and back. All soldering secure. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs.
The earrings are not signed. Their characteristics are consistent with the work of DeLizza & Elster.
