Patented in 1950 for Trifari, Alfred Philippe's molded milk glass design was aptly named "Dogwood", featuring bezel set thumbprint blossoms in creamy white, fitted beautifully into burnished gold tone settings. From Trifari's "Pat. Pend." period, the necklace and bracelet were engineered with articulated links, the former with the addition of bilateral flat cobra chains. The overlapping blossoms were slightly raked, lending dimension to this classic parure. Complementing clip earrings with double blossoms and gracefully curved stems complete the ensemble.
This set includes the necklace at a fixed approximate 14 3/4 inches with fold over clasp. Decorative center spans approximately 6 1/2 inches x 1/2 inch wide; the bracelet, at about 7 inches x 3/4 inch and the clip earrings, at approximately 1 1/8 inches across. The set weighs in at about 75 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All component original and intact. All molded (sometimes called poured) glass inserts free from damage, retaining milky white luster. No chips, cracks, or breaks. Bezels remain secure. All gold tone finishes intact, fronts and backs. Necklace and bracelet clasps, as well as earring clips strong and secure. All links secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
All pieces signed. The necklace's clasp: "TRIFARI", each earring clip: "TRIFARI" with crown over the "T" and the bracelet clasp "TRIFARI" with the addition of "PAT PEND". The Dogwood pattern is well documented and researched and can be dated precisely to Philippe patents in 1950.
Enjoy the dogwood blossoms year round. Growing strong for 64 years.
