This one has it all. Baroque glass faux pearls, crystal glass beads, seed pearls, pendaloque pearls, rose montee rhinestones, gold tone fluted double cup spacers, leaf trim and a large rauten rose cut rhinestone. Center decorative / functional clasp employs hand wiring and filigree back plate. You may see a stunning similarity to Miriam Haskell's work. The piece offered is, however, unsigned.
Three strands comprise the '50s vintage necklace. Two baroque faux pearl strands (pearled glass beads) separated with crimped metal beads spacers and one center row of aurora borealis glass crystal glass beads, interspersed with twist fluted, double communion cup spacers. The piece de resistance is the incredible eight pointed clasp, to be worn at front. Faux seed pearls and rose montee rhinestones are alternately wired onto a gold tone filigree star framework spaced with pendaloque (tear drop) shaped faux pearls. (This star filigree plate is additionally back plated with a filigree round.) Atop this tapestry rests a large, fancy spire pronged, rauten rose cut aurora borealis rhinestone, accented with eight frosted gold tone leaves.
The necklace's top row is a fixed approximate 15 inches. The bottom strand drapes to about 17 inches. The push in box type clasp measures approximately 1 7/8 inches across with a 3/4 inch profile. The necklace strand pearls are each about 5 millimeters. The crystals about 6 millimeters. The rauten rose cut center rhinestone is approximately 13 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is about 82 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All faux pearls intact, retaining nacre and luster. Crystals free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Rose montee rhinestones are uniformly clear and brilliant. Rauten rose cut rhinestone retains color play and sparkle. Gold tone finishes intact. Some appropriate patina. All wiring remains secure. Strands appear secure. There is a bit of play (about 1/8 inch) or slack in each of the two pearl strands. Please keep in mind that this is a vintage necklace and it will show some signs of it's wear / age. Clasp secure. A note: Since the clasp tab is obscured with a point of the star it can be a bit of a challenge to manipulate. One need use a fingernail to depress the tab to release the clasp. Once locked in, it is very secure. No damage / no repairs. Get to the know the necklace better by taking a close look at the many photos I've provided.
The necklace is not signed. It has all the features of a designer inspired piece. Top shelf materials, and workmanship.
