Art Nouveau Revival at it's most exuberant. The large, beautifully and substantially cast gold tone crescent shaped base is heavily embellished with high relief, flowing swirls and curls, and bulbous golden beads. Variously sized, high domed round faux Persian turquoise cabochons and a single large oval cab dot the surface. Suspended is an additional pierced, crescent medallion with beading and a central nouveau style cartouche set with a blue cab. Five rigid dangles with three different designs are suspended from the medallion, three with complimenting blue cabochons. The epitome of Nouveau Revival with a focus on design elements and faux stone embellishments.
The 1960s vintage brooch measures an impressive approximate 4 1/2 inches long (including dangles) x 2 inches at it's widest. Largest oval cab is approximately 17 millimeters x 11 millimeters. Largest round cab is about 8 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 36 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage. All components original and intact. All simulated Persian turquoise cabochons intact with uniform robin's egg blue color. All gold tone finish intact, front and back. (The surface is beautifully worked and rubbed.) All jump rings original. Soldered and riveted pin back strong and secure. No damage / no repairs. Clean and ready to wear.
A signature is not apparent. Top notch design, materials and workmanship are. The high relief, two piece casting assembly and five part dangle medley, all with imitation stones, magnify the nuances of Nouveau. A bold and dramatic brooch that captures the essence of an era.
