Lustrous faux carnelian cabs highlight this '50s vintage double link necklace and earrings set. In light goldtone, the quality made, substantial pieces have been referred to by some as either unsigned Schauer, Kafin, or Reinad. Although difficult to attribute a maker, the set speaks for itself with it's luxurious, pillow top cabochons soldered atop heavy double chain links. Bold, significant and straightforward, the strong, but not silent type.
The necklace is adjustable to about 15 inches with distinctive charmed extension chain and hook style closure. Decorative center spans about 8 inches x 5/8 inch with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Matching clip earring complete the demi, at about 7/8 inch x 5/8 inch. Cabochons are approximately 11 millimeters x 9 millimeters. Weight of the set is about 88 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All glass cabs free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Color uniform / even. (A bit more red color with less of the orange tint carnelian can have.) Goldtone finishes intact. Some minor wear to reverses. Earring clips strong and secure. All soldering intact. No damage / no repairs.
An unsung hero from the golden age of costume jewelry. Possibly from one of the houses above and definitely in the family of fabulous. Great vintage jewels from Cody's. Just a couple of clicks away.
