Called "Pearl Bouquet" in Napier's 1989 Fall line and featured on page 642 of Melinda L. Lewis' new book "The Napier Co.", the collection took on a Chanelesque, refined French silhouette. The pendant style necklace pictured employs graduated simulated bilateral pearl strands, interspersed with golden disk spacers, culminating in a large winding circular pendant wired with spirals of imitation pearls. A high domed large mabe faux pearl peeks from top center. 25 years have passed since it's introduction, yet "Pearl Bouquet" remains as fresh and fashionable as when created. Such was Napier's commitment to classic, ageless adornments. Many of their vintage pieces are easily and eagerly worn by those with a comprehensive sense of fashion.
The necklace offered measures a fixed approximate 24 inches with foldover clasp. The largest pearls in the strands are approximately 9 millimeters. The pendant is about 2 inches across. The mabe pearl is approximately 12 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is about 54 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All faux pearls retain nacre and luster. Goldtone finishes intact. Some slight goldtone contact wear on small portions of clasp only. Strands appear secure. Clasp secure. Pendant wiring secure. No damage / no repairs.
The necklace is signed on it's original foldover clasp: "Napier" in stylized script and "PAT. PEND". Reverse of pendant is signed within a rectangular cartouche: "NAPIER" with copyright symbol. The piece can be precisely dated in Melinda's wonderful, comprehensive book "The Napier Co. ", as noted above. She suggests a value of $75-$95.
