Monet Monocraft Door Knocker Pendant Necklace
$49
Over 30 years experience offering the finest in vintage jewelry.
Quality vintage jewelry at competitive prices.
Finally receiving the fair shake it deserves Monet (Monocraft) has been in the forefront of fashion accessories since it began producing monograms in the late 1920s. The Chernow brothers developed a premium plating process that proved superior to much of the costume jewelry in the mass market. No wonder so many of Monet's vintage pieces continue to present beautifully. See some of the company's history in Alice Vega's "Monet The Master Jewelers" book.
The pendant necklace presented, circa 1970s is one such example of the staying power of Monet. As fresh and fashionable as when created, the necklace begins with two gold tone bilateral chain links, one a simple curb and the other a fancy link with textured elliptical stations joined by O rings. You will notice how the beaded texturing in these stations picks up the metal beading in the pendant's base plate. The framing and center circle is done in a Florentine finish. The ribbed knocker hinge is in shiny gold tone. Knocker portion complements in Florentine finish. The necklace is secured by fancy end bars and fold over clasp.
The necklace is a wearable approximate 24 inches. Pendant portion adds 2 1/2 inches x 2 inches at it's widest point with a maximum 3/4 inch profile or height. Weight of the necklace is 61.1 grams.
Condition is excellent / near pristine vintage. All components correct and intact. All chain links aligned and secure. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Knocker hinge secure and functions as created. Gold tone finishes intact throughout. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
The original fold over clasp is signed: "MONET" followed by copyright symbol. Reverse of the pendant base plate is signed: "MONET" followed by copyright symbol. Circa 1970s.
