Featured in their ad campaign and worn by Suzy Parker in Harper's Bazaar in 1963, Trifari's Sahara series included a bright white capsule bead necklace alternating with wide goldtone porcupine or thistle rondelle beads and complimenting domed button style clip earrings. Trifari's signature mix of materials is an eye catching display of contrasting textures and colors. The necklace's smooth bright white Lucite beads pair with spiked goldtone metal rondelles -- an edgy, fresh approach to casual, classic cruise jewelry. Matching white domed cabochon earrings are encircled with goldtone bristle trim -- a perfect "first mate".
The necklace is adjustable to about 17 inches with white bead extension chain and hook style closure. The necklace's white capsule beads are approximately 14 millimeters x 9 millimeters. The clip earrings are about 7/8 inch across with a 3/8 inch dome. Weight of the demi is approximately 65 grams.
Condition of the set is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Lucite capsule beads retain bright white gleam. All goldtone finishes intact on rondelles and hardware. Necklace appears securely strung with no slack. Earring clips strong and secure. No damage / no repairs. Clean and fresh.
Each original earring clip is signed "TRIFARI" no copyright symbol. The original necklace hook is signed "TRIFARI" no copyright symbol. The necklace also retains it's signature crowned "T" metal hang tag. The ad campaign from a 1963 issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine dates this set to the period.
