Clusters of faceted clear and pink barrel, round and saucer shaped beads are wired onto filigree backs in the clip-on earrings presented, circa 1960s by Alice Caviness. Caviness was a designer's designer -- inspired to create jewelry that would complement her personal wardrobe. Colors, shapes and textures were an important part of the considerations resulting in accessories with practicality and panache.
The earrings measure an approximate 1 3/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches with a 5/8 inch profile or height. Barrel shaped beads are about 18 millimeters; rounds, 9 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is 27 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All faceted glass beads free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All remain wired to filigree backs / cover plates. There is some patina or possible wear to some of the metal finishes. The bead stems and bead toppers on front appear to be an intended brass tone. Reverse filigree plate is a silvery tone and cover plate a brass tone. Earring clip paddles are silver tone. Perhaps the reverse metal components were intended this way or may be patina / wear factors. Earring clips strong and secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Some possible reverse finish wear. Excellent vintage.
Each original earring paddle signed: "ALICE" underscored with "CAVINESS". Circa 1960s.
Pretty in pink and keeping it crystal clear with Caviness. At Cody's.
