Occasionally clips of the '30s-'40s were stamped with the maker's mark "R", usually on the clip mechanism. Research has suggested that this large case letter may have been the mark of Resen, Reeves, Reich, Royalty or others. Suffice it to say that the wonderful pair of shield shaped dress clips presented exhibit premium design, materials, layout, workmanship and presentation. In coveted, rare red colors stones include marquises and chatons in dentelle and conventional faceting. Many are unfoiled and open backed. Each clip also includes a trio of pressed molded frosty red art glass leaves. Selection, placement and arrangement of stones create sumptuous, sparkling shields -- your red badges of courage.

Each clip measures approximately 2 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Large marquises are about 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters; largest dentelle faceted chatons, 11 millimeters and pressed glass leaves, 10 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weight of the clip pair is 37.8 grams.

Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All stones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All retain colors and sparkle. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Gold tone finish intact with some minor gold tone, age commensurate wear to embossed clip paddles. Clips strong and secure with tight snap shut closure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent / near pristine vintage.

Each original clip paddle is signed: "R". Circa 1930s-1940s.
