The venerable Weiss company of New York runs circles around the competition with an array of sparkling rhinestones in chaton, marquise, pear, emerald and baguette cuts in it's marvelous '50s-'60s vintage pewter tone brooch. Topaz colored stones, one large chaton with magnificent dentelle faceting, team with teal toned stones. (RL doesn't offer the color teal in it's qualifiers, prompting us to use blue and green.) For added pop, aurora borealis rhinestones sparkle throughout -- a large pear / briolette cut starring. The brooch's reverse is finished in a soft pewter tone finish, reminiscent of Regency's flip sides.
The round brooch measures approximately 2 1/4 inches across with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Large pear shaped ab rhinestone is 14 millimeters x 11 millimeters; marquises, 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters and large dentelle faceted chaton, 11 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 31.6 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones intact, retaining colors, treatments and brilliance. No off, discolored, dulled or dead stones. Very minute hairline scratches to surface of ab pear. All stones secure within pronged settings. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All soldering neat and secure. Pewter tone finish intact, front and back. Pin shaft straight. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of the brooch is signed in block caps: "WEISS". Circa 1950s-1960s.
