Trifari proliferated in simulated pearl jewelry throughout the '50s-'60s. Myriad designs for necklaces, bracelets, brooches and earrings, often in parures, crowned Trifari the prince of pearls. Often styles were modeled after botanical or marine subjects. The brooch presented, circa 1960s, features a leafy or foliage openwork design, laden with imitation pearls. Metal plate is in the famous Trifanium -- a silver or gold tone finish specially created by Trifari. Much or the company's jewels fashioned during mid century remain stylish and wearable some 50 years later.
The brooch measures approximately 2 1/2 inches x 2 inches with a 5/16 inch profile or height. Faux pearls are 4 and 5 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 18.7 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All simulated pearls retain nacre and luster. No peeling, cracks, rubs or stains. All retain consistent white shade. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All gold tone finish intact, shiny front and satin / Florentine reverse. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed within a rectangular cartouche: "TRIFARI" followed by copyright symbol. Circa 1960s.
