Jomaz goes the extra mile with this fabulous 1950s vintage demi adding golden plated fluted rhinestone topped cones to the already luxurious rhodium plated bases. It was always more expensive to combine the two different colored metals. Jomaz / Mazer had a flair for creating fashion jewelry to look and feel like the "real" thing. The demi offered features the necklace with a decorative span of large pave set rhinestone links (center three are rigid) filled with jutting golden fluted cones, each topped with a chaton rhinestone. Pave set rhinestone connector links join links as well as baguette rhinestone chain that culminates with a baguette set foldover clasp. Clip earrings complement the necklace, featuring leafy rhodium plated pave set frames centered with jutting golden plated, rhinestone topped fluted cones. Fine jewelry training and techniques are evident in this dynamic demi, as well as many other Jomaz / Mazer pieces. The company took pride in it's unwavering commitment to quality costume jewelry production.
The demi pictured includes the necklace, at a fixed approximate 14 1/2 inches with rhinestone set foldover clasp. Decorative center spans approximately 4 1/4 inches with a maximum width of about 1 3/8 inches. Profile is approximately 1/4 inch. Matching earrings are about 1 inch x 5/8 inch. Weight of the set is approximately 36 grams.
Condition of the demi is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. Some of the tiny rhinestone may have dimmed a bit with age but the demi presents beautifully, still full of sparkle and life. Crisp, clean and fresh. All golden plate intact. All rhodium plate intact. Very slight contact finish wear on parts of necklace chain reverse. Earrings show some finish wear on clips only. Necklace clasp and earring clips strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Necklace is signed on the reverse of end link of the decorative span portion with "JOMAZ". There is also the letter "K" beneath (likely the stone setter or identification of person who designed or worked on the piece.) Each original earring clip is signed "JOMAZ".
We're not trying to say that these are real diamonds, set in platinum and gold. What we're saying is that the Jomaz / Mazer put as much work into their costume jewelry as they would put into fine jewelry. The level of craftmanship and workmanship was beyond compare.
There's a time for fine...for fun, go faux. Do it right with Jomaz / Mazer and the folks as Cody's.
