Volupté, known for it's myriad compacts, minaudieres and cigarette cases produced a very limited line of jewelry, most likely during the 1950s. Signed examples are rare. From examples we've seen, quality is high.
The platinum toned rhodium plate necklace presented, circa 1950s, consists of five stationary snowflake designs in pitched baguette rhinestones with pear shaped rhinestone crowns. Flakes are topped and spaced with two sizes of vertical and horizontal set baguette rhinestones. Baguette design chain extends about 1 1/2 inches on each side of decorative snowflake span. Remainder of rhinestone necklace chain is set with chaton rhinestones. A rhinestone embellished hook secures.
The necklace is adjustable to approximately 17 inches. Decorative center spans about 7 1/4 inches x 1 inch with a 3/8 inch snowflake profile or height. Largest pears are approximately 13 millimeters; largest baguettes, 9 millimeters x 4 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is 32 grams.
Condition is excellent / near pristine vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All remain uniformly clear and brilliant. All soldering neat and secure. All settings and links secure. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Snowflakes retain dome shape. All lustrous rhodium plate intact, front and back. Hook secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
The necklace is signed within a rectangular cartouche on reverse of center snowflake: "VOLUPTÉ". Circa 1950s.
