Eisenberg's classic masterpieces from it's sterling years (circa 1943-1948) include the wonderful fur clip presented. An image of the clip can be seen in a September 1944 Vogue promotional print ad included in Carla and Roberto Brunialtis' book "American Costume Jewelry".
The sterling clip features sweeping Art Moderne volutes paved with sparkling chaton rhinestones punctuated with large brilliant oval, pear and emerald cuts rhinestones. A trio of stepped rhinestone set channels bisects at top, a nod to Art Deco's geometric influence. Reverse includes hinged double pronged clip.
The clip measures a generous approximate 2 3/4 inches x 2 inches with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Largest oval and rectangular / emerald cut stones are about 11 millimeters x 10 millimeters. Weight of the clip is a substantial 64 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and sparkling. Marginal dimming of a few stones. All sterling components free from dents or improper bends. All soldering secure. Fur clip mechanism strong and secure. Double prongs remain sharp and straight, fitting properly within the guards at bottom. Sterling retains superb patina. No polishing done. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The clip is signed twice on it's reverse in familiar font: "Eisenberg". It is also signed "STERLING" on it's reverse and on the clip arm top. A stone setter's identification mark is included. At appears to be either a "3, 31 or 37". Circa 1944.
