The Spear Novelty Company, manufacturing rhinestone buttons and accessories, was founded in the 1920s by Henry and Yvette Bogoff. The company morphed into producing rhinestone jewelry under the "Jewels by Bogoff" umbrella. Many designs favored floral and foliage motifs, rhinestone set chain work and rhodium plating in pleasing, unpretentious presentations. Operations ceased in 1959.
Each earring presented, circa 1950s, features a rhinestone set leafy design showcasing a pair of dentelle faceted chatons (extra facets for superb brilliance). Additional conventional cut chatons complete the look. Reverses of short back clip earrings are plated in platinum toned rhodium.
The earrings measure approximately 1 inch x 5/8 inch with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Dentelle faceted stones are about 7 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is 12 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. Dentelle faceted stones exhibit premium sparkle. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Rhodium plate intact. Earring clips strong and secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Minor wear. Excellent vintage.
Each original earring signed in block caps: "BOGOFF". One of the earring body reverses also has a faint stamping: "BOGOFF". Circa 1950s.
