Measuring 3 1/2 inches across this '60s vintage circular gold tone brooch offers a base layer of green marquise rhinestones topped with crowns of clear chaton rhinestones. Large green aurora borealis chaton rhinestones separate each. Graduated top tier features identical green marquises arced with clear chaton rhinestones. Green aurora borealis chatons alternate at marquises' bases. At center, a ring of green chaton rhinestones surround a faceted round green art glass stone, unfoiled and open backed. Although the maker of this masterpiece remains undocumented, surely the work of highly qualified and seasoned professionals.
The brooch is approximately 3 1/2 inches across with a 5/8 inch profile or height. Center green stones is 25 millimeters; marquises, 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters and large green ab rhinestones, 11 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is about 72 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All stones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All tinted stones retain colors, treatments and sparkle. All "white" rhinestones uniformly clear and brilliant. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All soldering secure. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Clean. Minimal wear. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is not signed. The fanning arches of chaton rhinestones were a favorite design feature of the Weiss company. Some of the firm's pieces were sold to major retailers, sans the Weiss name. Circa 1960s.
