Trifari's classic bow design updates in this 1952 vintage modernist bow brooch. In burnished gold tone with billowing bow loops, Trifari adds rakish ribbon trails and a surprise center knot of seven silver tone high stem set baguette rhinestones. Selected bow loops and ribbons trails are channel set with sparkling, sapphire blue baguette rhinestones. An example of this brooch with all clear stones is shown in Julia C. Carroll's "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202".
The brooch measures a respectable approximate 2 3/4 inches x 2 inches at it's widest point with a maximum profile or height of 5/8 inch. Clear baguette rhinestones are 5 millimeters x 2 millimeters; blue baguettes, variously sized. Weight of the brooch is about 20 grams.
Condition is excellent -- near pristine vintage. All components intact. All "white" rhinestones uniformly clear and brilliant. Colored stones retain rich sapphire blue color. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Silver tone and gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin shaft may be a professional replacement -- it opens more than Trifari's standard 90 degrees. Pin mechanism strong and secure. All soldering original and secure. Extremely clean. Mo damage / no repairs. Possible pin shaft replacement. Near pristine vintage.
Reverse of the brooch is signed: "TRIFARI" and "PAT. PEND.". Circa 1952.
