The ubiquitous 1950s vintage rhinestone and simulated pearl necklace attained celebrity status by prominent costume jeweler Trifari. All configurations of lustrous and matte imitation pearls were paired with sparking clear and colored rhinestones in Trifari's gold tone or silver tone finish, later to become the company's own "Trifanium" finish.
The necklace presented, circa 1950s, created during Trifari's "Pat Pend" period (roughly 1940s-1955) features lustrous burnished gold tone metal set with clear chaton rhinestones, blue marquise rhinestones and two sizes of glossy faux pearls. Flexible bilateral snake, serpentine or cobra chains, sometimes referred to as fox tail secure with fold over clasp.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 15 inches. Decorative center spans about 7 1/4 inches x 1/2 inch wide, Largest faux pearls are approximately 6 millimeters; blue marquise rhinestones, 10 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is about 38 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All simulated pearls retain nacre, color and luster. No rubs or abrasions. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. Beautiful consistent icy blue marquise color. Burnished gold tone finish intact. Some minor finish wear to reverse of decorative center span. Chains maintain flexibility. No kinks or pulls. Fold over clasp strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
