Larger than life and everything dressy Art Deco fashion jewelry exemplified -- geometric angles paired with slashes and curves sparkling with ubiquitous rhinestones. Dress clips were de rigueur worn in pairs or with larger examples, as solo statements. Meant to be noticed without nuance they could glamorize a gown in a snap.
The 1930s vintage shield style clip presented, in signature silvery pot metal, has a high domed arch set at bridge with double rows of square or princess cut rhinestones channeled with pave rhinestones. Lower portion features exuberant ribbon slashes and curlicues filled with clear chaton rhinestones.
The clip measures a generous approximate 2 3/4 inches x 2 1/8 inches at it's widest point with a 5/8 inch arch or dome. Clear square cut rhinestones are about 4 millimeters. Weight of the dress clip is 40 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and sparkly. Some minor dimming inherent in cup set rhinestone jewelry of this vintage. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Silver finish on base pot metal intact with some patina. No polishing done. Clip arm has finish wear. Pronged arm mechanism strong and secure with tight snap shut closure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Age commensurate wear. Excellent vintage.
The clip is not signed. It is stamped on reverse with the number "3" -- most likely the stone setter's mark. There also appears to be a small dotted circle near reverse center. Circa 1930s.
