Watermelon rhinestones were a favorite in Elsa Schiaparelli designs with their wonderful pink, green and fuchsia highlights. Accented with aurora borealis chatons and set in a wrapped and furled foliage motif, the watermelon marquises are the leading players in this 1950s vintage bracelet and earrings demi by the famed designer, known for her unusual and interesting creations.
The demi pictured includes the five link bracelet, measuring approximately 7 1/2 inches x 1 inch with foldover clasp and detachable safety chain and the matching clip earrings, at about 1 1/4 inches x 1 inch. Weight of the set is approximately 52 grams.
Condition is very good to excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Watermelon rhinestones retain color and sparkle. There are some slight inclusions in some stones, inherent in the aging process. Inclusions are reflected in price. (All foil backing remains on these open backed marquise stones.) Aurora borealis rhinestones retain finish and brilliance. Burnished brasstone metal retains finish and luster. Bracelet clasp and safety chain, as well as earring clips, strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Each original earring clip is signed in the familiar script "Schiaparelli". Original bracelet clasp also signed in the same script "Schiaparelli".
