Simulated pink and heavily striated amethyst opal pear shaped cabochons gleam in this '70s vintage eight point gold tone star brooch. Aurora borealis and pink chaton rhinestones sparkle throughout. Tear drop cabs and center round cab are set within bold golden bead frames. All stones are open back set. Pinkish stones are foil backed while striated stones are unfoiled.
The brooch measures a generous 2 1/2 inches across with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Pear shaped cabs are approximately 15 millimeters x 11 millimeters; center cab, 17 millimeters and largest chaton rhinestones, 4 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 30 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All imitation opal stones retain colors and selected treatments. All rhinestones intact retaining colors and brilliance. No off or dead stones. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to cabs or chatons. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism intact. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
