The 1928 brand, recognized by it's unique reverse pattern design, began producing jewelry in the 1960s. Many of it's styles recapture the former glories of Victorian, Edwardian, Nouveau and Deco eras.

The Belle Epoch inspired example presented features a top silver tone shield section lavishly draped with bows, ribbons and leaf work set with faux marcasite throughout. Near center a faceted rectangular faux jet black onyx stone rests. At base a large simulated rock crystal dangles, fabricated in faceted clear Lucite.

The brooch measures approximately 3 3/4 inches (with drop) x 1 1/4 inches at it's widest point. Imitation onyx stone is about 12 millimeters x 10 millimeters; Lucite dangle, 35 millimeters x 18 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 22 grams.

Condition is excellent vintage. All simulated marcasite stones intact with "black diamond" sparkle. Black glass stone retains luster and inky color with no chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All silver tone finish intact, front and back. Lucite drop remains clear with no scratches or damage. All connections and soldering secure. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.

The brooch is unsigned "1928". It's design, materials and construction, as well as it's signature reverse pattern work are attributed to the brand "1928". Circa 1970s-1980s.
