$190
Over 30 years experience offering the finest in vintage jewelry.
Quality vintage jewelry at competitive prices.
A noted graphic artist in the 1930-1940s, McClelland Barclay also designed a very limited amount of wonderful jewelry before his untimely death in 1943 during WWII. Rice-Weiner produced his jewelry from circa 1938-1943.
The panel link bracelet presented, is a magnificent marriage of art and architecture, combining high deco geometric style with the voluminous fluidity of the early Art Moderne '40s. Three slightly arched gold tone panels are wrapped at center with silver tone, clear rhinestone bands topped with cradle set sapphire blue, emerald cut art glass stones (unfoiled and open backed). Half panels at each end set with clear chaton rhinestones complete bracelet. Links are joined via elongated and cinched figure eight bow loops. A lined fold over clasp secures.
The bracelet measure approximately 7 inches x 7/8 inch with a maximum 3/8 inch profile or height. Blue glass stones are about 10 millimeters x 8 millimeters. Weight of the bracelet is 48 grams.
Condition is very good to excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. No dark, cloudy or dead stones. No dents of improper bends to metal components. Silver tone and gold tone finishes intact with some patina. Reverse of bracelet displays some wear / pitting to finish. Blue stones are original to the piece. (McClelland Barclay used very distinctive colored blue, red, green, amber, violet or clear stones.) One of the blue stones displays a small surface sliver chip. It measures approximately 2 millimeters x 1 millimeter. It is very shallow, perhaps .25 millimeter. It is shown In one of the photographs. All links original and secure. Fold over clasp strong and secure. Clean. No damage. Wear and issue as stated is reflected in price.
The bracelet is signed on reverse of end link: "McClelland Barclay" circa 1930s-1940s.
