Eugene Joseff's illustrious, albeit short lived career, produced much of the jewelry used in Hollywood movies of the day. His association with costume designer Walter Plunkett was a stepping stone to subsequent retail department store sales. He and his wife, Joan Castle Joseff are showcased in books and articles referencing vintage costume jewelry. Their creations were worn by Hollywood royalty and fans alike.
The large flower blossom clip earrings pictured, in the famous Russian goldtone finish with rhinestone centers and petal accents, measure a very generous approximate 2 1/4 inches across with a 1/4 inch lift or profile. (The petals are in a gently undulating wave like pattern.) Weight of the pair is about 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. As many of you are aware, reproductions of Joseff jewelry abound. I believe these earrings to be of genuine 1950s vintage due to appropriate patina, hand manipulated construction, slight differences in dimensions and overall appearance. Rhinestones remain bright although not blindingly white as new might present. All soldering secure. Clips secure. No damage / no repairs. Please be advised that these earrings are circa 1950s vintage and will not appear brand new.
Each earring is signed in script on reverse within a round cartouche "Joseff".
