Intricately interlaced goldtone wires electrify this fantastic sculpted brooch and earring demi by Alice Caviness, circa 1960-70. Each is topped with a riveted ring of clear chaton rhinestones and crowned with a larger single, multi pronged chaton rhinestone. Wires are wound and coiled in a blossom like pattern with brilliant rhinestone centers. Mesmerizing, magnificent work!
The set includes the brooch, at about 2 inches across when measured as worn. Thickness or profile is an incredible 3/4 inch. (Wires are medium gauge -- not flimsy or easily bendable.) Matching clip earrings are approximately 1 inch across with a 5/8 inch thickness. Weight of the demi is about 46 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All goldtone wires retain shape and finish. No bent or misshapen wires. No rubs, stains or discoloration to goldtone metal. All rhinestones intact and sparkly. Riveting and soldering neat and secure. Partial coverplates on reverse protect from exposed wires. Earring clips and pin back strong and secure. No damage. No repairs.
The reverse of the brooch is signed within an oval cartouche "ALICE CAVINESS". The earrings are not signed, but are, of course, part of this demi.
