Translucent honey topaz colored marquise and pear shaped stones (unfoiled and open backed) in multi cane / striped / porphyry glass are used in harmony with brilliant citrine chaton rhinestones in this wonderful '60s vintage gold tone swirl brooch from ART.
ART jewelry (we opine underrated and undervalued) was produced by MODEART / MODE-ART, a New York based company owned by Arthur Pepper. High quality art glass and rhinestones, as well as enamels in spectacular colors and combinations are hallmarks of the company, circa 1950s-1970s.
The gold tone swirl brooch presented measures approximately 2 inches across with a 1/2 inch profile or height. Largest striped pear shaped stones are about 18 millimeters x 13 millimeters; largest marquises, 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 30 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All art glass stones and rhinestones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All retain wonderful colors and luster / sparkle. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Soldering secure. All gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Minimal wear. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of the brooch is signed: "ART" followed by copyright symbol Circa 1960s.
