Slightly, sensationally off center, Schiaparelli offered options to the obvious and choices to the contrived. While certainly incorporating the trends of the times, Schiaparelli's surrealist slant, ala Dali and Cocteau, provided outré color combinations and material mixtures that were considered unconventional for the time. Even with her more traditional jewelry, there was often a hint of departure from the norm.
The gently domed button style clip earrings presented, circa 1950s-1960s, are set with golden mist faux baroque pearl cabochon centers. They are surrounded with a wired wave of iridescent frosted glass bugle beads that float above a wired circle of round baroque faux pearls. Components are secured to metal domes and backed with gold tone pinwheel cover plates.
The earrings measures approximately 1 1/4 inches across with a 1/2 inch profile or height. Golden pearl cabs are about 20 millimeters; round simulated pearls, 6 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is 22 grams.
