Joseph Wiesner of New York puts us over the top with it's early '50s crescent climber earrings in gold tone, aglitter with amethyst colored oval rhinestones whiplashed with clear pave set accent chatons and a single clear oval. In signature sweeping period elegance, Wiesner picks up the pace with the whiplash -- a design element popular during the Art Nouveau movement. Spectacular in both substance and style, the high climbers curve their way up the ear in complementing conformation.
The earrings measures a generous approximate 2 inches x 3/4 inch with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Oval rhinestones are about 7 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is approximately 22 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All "white: rhinestones intact and uniformly brilliant. All amethyst rhinestones intact, retaining consistent color and sparkle. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All gold tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Original clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of one earring back is signed within an oval cartouche" "JOSEPH WIESNER" underscored with "N.Y.". Circa early 1950s. Wiesner's limited run during the '50s rendered surviving examples uncommon.
