Joseph H. Meyer and Brothers began producing jewelry under the Richelieu name in 1911. Most marked or signed jewelry was created after 1950. Although it's simulated pearl line is often associated with the Richelieu name, the company also made wonderful enamel, rhinestone and Lucite jewelry. Production ceased in the early 2000s.
The brooch presented measures approximately 2 1/4 inches x 1 3/4 inches with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Imitation ruby and turquoise cabochons are about 3 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is a generous 30 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Cabochons retain color and luster. Red rhinestones retain color and brilliance. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed in script within a rectangular cartouche: "Richelieu". Circa 1950s-1960s.
