It's hip to be square with this magnificent high domed '60s vintage brooch loaded with a cornucopia of pear shaped and oval cabochons, art glass marquises, pears and an oval and rhinestone chatons, marquises and a baguette. Colors are on the blue / green spectrum ranging from cloud, aqua, Montana and marine blues to peridot, emerald and teal greens. All stones are pronged glass -- some are unfoiled and open backed opaque or translucent -- others are conventional foil backed rhinestones. A wonderful variety of specialty and traditional stones set into a high rise, coil framed square.
The brooch measures approximately 2 1/4 inches across with a very generous 11/16 inch profile or height. Largest cabs are about 18 millimeters; largest marquises, 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters and largest chatons, 11 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 40 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones intact, retaining colors, treatments and luster / brilliance. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. All secure within pronged settings. No dents, improper bends, crush or collapse to metal components. All soldering secure. Gun metal / pewter tone finish intact, front and back. Strong and secure pin mechanism is soldered along "top" edge for flip free wear. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is not signed. Spectacular dimensional stone work and creative color combinations. Circa 1960s.
