Ice blue and royal purple chaton rhinestones bring out the complementing fire of the iridescent dragon's breath pear shaped cabochons in this wonderful '50s-'60s vintage unsigned Florenza pewter tone pendant necklace and earrings set. A fine mesh screen grid and ring of simulated pearls is added to the pendant.
Named in honor of his wife Florence in 1948, Dan Kasoff produced romantically inspired jewelry, often with Victorian or Renaissance themes. Unusual stone selections and combinations as well as antiqued metalwork were characteristic. The company also produced jewelry for Weiss, Kramer, Carnegie, Coro, Capri, Revlon and Estee Lauder. Operations ceased in 1981.
The silver tone chain link necklace has a wearable length of about 27 inches with spring ring closure. The pendant including bail is approximately 2 1/2 inches x 2 with a 1/2 inch maximum profile or height. Matching clip earrings are 1 1/4 inches x 1 1/8 inches. Dragons breath pear shaped cabs are 14 millimeters x 10 millimeters; largest chatons, 6 millimeters. Weight of the necklace and earrings set is about 54 grams.
Condition is very good / excellent vintage. All components intact. All glass cabs free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks, retaining superb iridescent glow and bluish purple color spectrum. All rhinestones intact, retaining colors and sparkle. Mesh grid free from pulls, pokes, or dents, retaining proper stretch / tension. A few of the imitation faux seed pearls on the pendant may be replacements. Pearl nacre and luster is intact, with perhaps a tad of errant adhesive on two or three. The necklace chain may be an addition or a replacement. All links secure with strong spring ring closure. All antiqued silver tone finish intact, fronts and backs of all pieces. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All soldering secure. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Very good / excellent vintage. (Very good grading due to possible necklace chain addition / replacement and faux pearl issues only.)
The set is an unsigned Florenza. We have seen numerous examples of identical earrings signed "FLORENZA". Although the pendant is also unsigned, it is a definite part of the demi. Design, materials and workmanship support the attribution. Circa 1950s-1960s.
